About Rei

I hold a degree in Nutrition & Food Science and a master’s degree in Italian Gastronomy & Tourism. Food and cooking have been my passion and the way I express love, until I discovered oil painting! I could see and interpret the world with greater precision, and colors have become the new medium for expressing my emotions and perceptions. I was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and have been fortunate to live and study in Lilongwe, Malawi, Eswatini (a.k.a. Swaziland), San Antonio, Texas, and Cuneo, Piemonte before finding love and my home on the island of Oahu. In life, Mr. V was my favorite art teacher at Waterford Kamhlaba (UWCSA) in high school. He was a delightful human being, a great artist, and an exceptional teacher! Mr. V introduced me to the fun of art, but it took a while to find the courage and time to start taking painting lessons. In the summer of 2023, I was introduced to Ms. Christy Fujii, a beautiful and amazing artist who taught me the magic of color mixing and exceptional palette knife painting skills, and who has also become a very dear friend. It's never too late to learn something new, find a hobby, and even launch a new business! I am incredibly thankful to my loving husband, Greg, who has been so encouraging and supportive of everything I do.
